Corona confesses having $2.4M in financial institution deposits

Primary Rights Renato Corona on Saturday said he has $2.4 thousand in cost benefits, saying the cash matured from the attention generate over the decades.

"Mahigit kumulang po $2.4 thousand [ang cash cost benefits ko], embargo passion ko po ipaliwanag na ‘di po ‘yun pinasok sa bangko na $2.4 thousand," Corona informed the impeachment trial.

He created the entrance while Chair for economic council Community Ground Innovator Mike Chris Cayetano was appearing clarificatory concerns to the primary justice during Friday's test.

Last Thursday, Corona said his household invested in forex trading. For this project, he said he preserves four cash accounts–one with Financial institution of the Filipino Destinations (BPI), one with Allied Financial Corp. , and two with the Filipino Savings Financial institution.

He said his household began gathering cash in the overdue Sixties when the cash return amount was almost P2 to $1.

"Nung una akong bumili two-is-to-one, tapos… naging 3.80 or tapos naging four, tapos naging sailing rate… I think mga 5.90 and so on and so forth.  We're discussing here of more than 35 decades kumikita ng interes ‘yan," he included.

He described that the cash matured to some extent because they hardly ever invested the attention it was generating.

"Hindi po kami mahilig sa sosyalan, kaya there was hardly whenever na nagalaw namin ‘yun interes kaya paratin pong nagcocompound," he said.

"Nakapasimpleng easy ang buhay namin... meron naman akong present flow of earnings na ginagasta namin pang-araw-araw," he included, saying they didn't pay for lease or house loan for 45 decades because they were residing in his our ancestors house.

Interpretation of the law

In his declaration Thursday, Corona said he did not announce the cash records in his declaration of resources, obligations, and net value (SALN) because these are protected by Republic Act 6426 or the International Forex First deposit Act.

"Ang pagkakaintindi ko po… ay di kailangan ideklara ang US cash... This is an overall guideline," he said.
 
"Certainly I should not and cannot be fined for abiding and depending upon the mail of the law. The discrepancies in my SALN do not represent an impeachable felony," he included.

Cayetano, however, considered whether this would persuade more govt authorities to cover up their cash in cash records.

"If that's the presentation of the primary justice, wouldn't that presentation damage the primary objective of the SALN law?" he said on Saturday.

Corona said he had began committing in cash even before RA 6426 was introduced.

Senate Chief executive Juan Ponce Enrile, for his aspect, said it was not the Senate's operate to generate viewpoint or presentation of regulations.
