The city of Pasig on Wednesday conferred on Cruz the "Natatanging Pasigueno" in the field of entertainment arts at the Tanghalang Pasigueno at the Pasig City Hall complex.

The award was given to Cruz "for his natural ability and talent in acting and projecting life on the big screen, and for serving as an inspiration and role model in real life," which has "earned him the respect of his peers and his audience."

Cruz, who personally received the award, said he hopes more actors will be recognized with the same honor in the coming years.

"Thank you ulit, at sana next year mas marami pang mabigyan ng ganitong parangal," he said.

The award-winning actor also said he dedicates the citation to his fellow Pasiguenos.

Cruz continues to make strides in his career as an actor, with the latest being his reunion project with actress Bea Alonzo. According to him, the upcoming film is scheduled for a September premiere this year.
