James-Kris friendship 'better than ever'

MANILA, Philippines – Basketball star James Yap happily shared that his relationship with his former wife, host-actress Kris Aquino, is better than ever.

In an interview with entertainment website Pep.ph last week, Yap said he and Aquino are now in better terms following the annulment of their marriage early this year.

“Oh we’re good friends right now. Nagdyo-joke kami nang husto. So, 'yun ang maganda doon. Ito 'yung maganda, I mean, mas maganda na 'yun dahil nakakapag-usap kami nang hindi na masyadong seryoso, 'yung casual. 'Yun ang magandang sitwasyon namin,” he said.

Yap said he and Aquino sometimes even talk about their personal lives including their respective love life.

“Oo, may ganoon, may ganoon. Kaya okay talaga 'yung samahan namin,” he said.

Yap, however, is unsure as to how their relationship came to this good point.

“Masyadong seryoso before. Siguro takot pa… Ewan ko, hindi ko alam,” he said.

Yap said he is just thankful that Aquino allows him to visit their son James Yap Jr. anytime he wants to.

Meanwhile, Yap revealed that he has no special plans this Christmas as his son will be leaving for Europe with Aquino until the first week of 2013.

“Actually, parang aalis yata sila, aalis sila. Wala sila dito. Ako lang mag-isa. Actually, may game ako sa Christmas,” he said.

The star cager said though that he will try to go to his hometown in Negros Occidental if he finds time.
