MANILA – After making headlines for sporting a boy haircut, Charice
has become one of the hot topics anew after she reportedly eloped with
former “X Factor” finalist Alyssa Quijano.
Quijano is a member of the girl group AKA Jam.
Charice’s mother Raquel Pempengco, however, was quick to defend her daughter as she denied the latest rumor about the singer.
In a text message to ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Pempengco admitted that
Quijano’s mother asked for her help about the new controversy.
“Tumawag po sa akin yung mommy nung girl... Asking po for help...
Nakatakas daw po kasi kahapon ng madaling araw, na may nakakita na
dalawang babae din in a grey car. Nagpapatawag po ng media dahil 'yun
daw po ang akala niyang makakatulong para makita niya ang anak niya,”
she said.
But Pempengco said one should not jump to conclusions that the girl who took Quijano was indeed Charice.
“Kung ako po ang tatanungin di ko po masasabing tanan 'yun coz we are
not sure if it's really Charice who got her... Hangga’t hindi po mismo
natin naririnig kay Charice ang totoong pagkatao niya... Para sa akin
‘di po dapat mag-judge dahil sa physical appearance lang,” she said.
Charice, who rose to fame in 2007 after a YouTube video of her singing landed her US TV appearances, has recently become the subject of headlines for her fashion choices and numerous makeovers.
While Charice may have decided to change her style, Pempengco said her daughter’s talent which wowed Filipinos worldwide will still remain the same.
ABS-CBN News tried to reach Quijano's mom but she hasn't been answering calls as of posting.
