MANILA – Actress Gretchen Barretto lashed back at one of her daughter’s followers in the image-sharing site Instagram.
This comes after a netizen commented that Dominique Conjuangco only posts out-of-town pictures – the Big Ben in London in particular – just so she could brag.
Two weeks ago, Cojuango posted a picture of the Big Ben and it was captioned: “Oneirataxia (n.) the inability to differentiate between dreams and reality.”
In the comment of Instagram user “mo490,” she said: “It has to do with 'prestige' para lng may masabi na oh i went to school abroad! Lol look at georgina & etc.”
Barretto then immediately came to the defense of her daughter, claiming Cojuangco’s post “has got nothing to do with prestige.”
“It’s about getting the best education for her chosen course, independence, experience. Para Lang masabi oh I went to school abroad is lame. Only shallow people would think or say that,” Barretto said.
The socialite-actress said, as parents, “we strive to prepare our children to reach their full potential to be able to face the future with greater knowledge & great contribution to society & confidence & hopefully to make this world a better place even for the most negative ones like you.”
She also informed the Instagram user that her daughter has been studying in a British school for 14 years “so it is just fitting for her to continue with the British education.”
As a closing statement, Barretto said: “Before you make an opinion think!!!”
Cojuangco is the only child of Barretto with her long-time partner, businessman Tony Boy Cojuangco.
