MTRCB, TAPE in 'close collaboration' for 3 months
MANILA -- The producers behind "The Ryzza Mae Show" and "Eat Bulaga" acknowledged Thursday separate incidents singled out by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to have supposedly "violated the dignity" of child star Ryzza Mae Dizon.
Executives of Television And Production Exponents (TAPE) Inc. and GMA-7 met with the MTRCB's Ad Hoc Committee in a mandatory conference, which sought to address the alleged "insensitive" scenes involving Dizon on both programs.
According to MTRCB chairperson Atty. Eugenio Villareal, both TAPE and GMA-7 acknowledged what he referred to as "lapses" in handling the 8-year-old child star as a host on her self-titled program and on "Eat Bulaga."
Both shows are produced by TAPE, and are aired during the weekday noontime block of GMA-7.
"In-acknowledge naman 'yung mga pangyayari na talagang naganap," Villareal said in an interview on radio dzMM on Thursday night.
The lawyer is referring to a scene on "The Ryzza Mae Show" during its August 14 episode, where Dizon is seen interacting with an audience member. Addressing the child star, the female contestant quipped, "Landi kang bata ka!"
Referring to Dizon's reaction as seen in the episode, Villareal said, "Kung mapapansin po ng ating mga manonood, noong pinakikinggan niya 'yan, si Ryzza, lumalayo siya roon sa babae. At sinabi niya, una niyang sinabi, 'Ate, may boyfriend ka ba?'
"Iyong pagsabi lang ng 'Ate,' sine-set ng tone ng matalinong bata na 'yon na may buong paggalang. At doon sa bandang huli, napansin niyo ba, sabi niya, 'Ate, dahan-dahan naman, bata pa po ako,'" Villareal said.

he other incident, as detailed by the MTRCB in its initial complaint, involved "Eat Bulaga" host Vic Sotto allegedly spitting juice on Dizon's face during the noontime program.
Remedial measures
Citing the input of a child psychologist during the mandatory conference on Thursday, Villareal said the parties agreed to address the "great concern of determining who will deal with [Dizon] in her scenes and how, such that her dignity and well-being as a child are not violated."
Aside from a three-month "close collaboration" between the MTRCB, TAPE and GMA-7 concerning Dizon's part in the noontime programs she hosts, Villareal said the respondents will also submit a remedial measure on September 9.
"Humiling sila hanggang Lunes upang magprisinta ng mga definitve remedial measures na ating hiniling na konkreto at time-based, at capable of feedback at evaluation," he said.
Villareal added the MTRCB's Ad Hoc Committee will then deliberate as to any recommended measures, if any, once the proposed remedial measures are approved.
"Ang mahalaga po ay mayroong mature na pag-acknowledge na nangyari itong mga hindi inaasahang mga pangyayaring ito at tayo ay tutungo na hindi mangyari pa ito ulit," he said.
