MANILA, Philippines - Former president Joseph Estrada
admitted Wednesday that he told his sons, San Juan City Rep. Joseph
Victor “JV” Ejercito and Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada, to end their rift.
"Totoo yan, totoo yan. It's a family affair. Kaya kung mayroon problema ako ang konsultuhin nila," Estrada told Kris Aquino on Wednesday's episode of "KrisTV."
He confirmed that he summoned his sons to a dinner and told them to settle their issues.
"Oo. Nagkahingahan sila," Estrada said.
The younger Estrada earlier admitted that he was hurt by some comments made by his half-brother.
Ejercito is running for senator under the United Nationalist Alliance, the coalition formed by their father and former President Joseph Estrada with the political party of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Estrada’s mother is former Senator Loi Ejercito, while Ejercito’s mother is former actress Guia Gomez.
The younger Estrada said he is upset that his brother allegedly made
comments to “generate publicity” over their supposed sibling rivalry “at
his expense.”
He also added that he was never a party to any sibling rivalry.
“I believe that the nature of our tepid relationship is perhaps understandable considering our family's circumstances,” he explained.
In his KrisTV guesting, Ejercito said he feels no pressure to be in the top 3 of the Senate race next year to match the achievement of his brother in 2010.
"Hindi naman siguro. Just making it, basta makatuntong lang doon, makatulong ako and I will be able to continue my advocacies," Ejercito said.
