Blumentritt Police Community Precinct Commander Chief Insp. Eduardo
Morata claimed former President Joseph Estrada hit him repeatedly and
threatened to remove him from his post while they were at the fiscal's
office on Sunday following the arrest of Vice Mayor Isko Moreno and
others due to gambling charges.
Morata also showed his damaged uniform and other bruises sustained from his clash with the Vice Mayor's supporters.
Moreno denied the charges, however. At the “Kapihan sa Diamond” on
Monday, he said: “Gusto ko pong malaman ninyo, nakalimutan ninyo: Kayo
po ang nanakit sa amin. Huwag niyo pong babaliktarin ang storya. Huwag
po kayong mag-planting of evidence.”
“Ang mga pasang pinakita namin sa inyo, huwag niyo kaming baligtarin. Sawa na po kami sa storya ng pulis na gumagawa lang ng storya para makulong ang walang sala…Ngayon gagawa kayo ng storya na tinatakot kayo ni Presidente Erap?”
Moreno and five Manila councilors were arrested in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Saturday for allegedly being involved in an illegal gambling activity.
Estrada, Moreno’s running mate for the 2013 local polls, was first to respond during his detention. Moreno and the others were eventually released for lack of evidence.
Moreno claimed the incident was all political harassment on the part of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim. The latter denied the allegation.
