MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Heart Evangelista on Thursday once again took to Twitter to protest her parents' objections about her relationship with boyfriend, Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero.
"Today, tomorrow and the next will bring me heartaches... why try to take away my happiness," tweeted Evangelista.

She also retweeted messages about being strong such as "Sometimes things get worse before they get better, but hold God's hand and he will help you keep it together" and "He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. -Proverbs 2:7."

On Tuesday, Evangelista's parents Cecile and Rey Ongpauco expressed their strong objection to her relationship with Escudero, detailing instances when they felt "disrespected" by the lawmaker who they accused of being "arrogant" and an "alcoholic."

They also appealed to their daughter and Escudero to reconsider their relationship.

The move of the Ongpaucos comes after Escudero's statement last month that he intends to marry Evangelista in five years.

On Wednesday, the 28-year-old actress went on record to deny her parents' allegations against the lawmaker.

"Mahal ko si Chiz. Humihingi po ako ng paumanhin sa kanya at sa pamilya niya dahil nadadamay sila dito," she said.

Escudero, for his part, has issued a statement saying his relationship with the actress remains strong amid the disapproval of the Evangelista’s parents.
