Veteran actress Bella Flores was finally laid to rest on Thursday afternoon.
Flores was brought to her final resting place at the Hardin ng mga
Bituin Our Lady of Eternal Peace in San Juan del Monte, Bulacan after a
Mass attended by family and friends.
Flores was the first celebrity who was laid to rest to in Hardin ng mga
Bituin, which was created as a tribute to Filipino artists.
Flores, dubbed as the country's "primera contrabida," died on Sunday. She was 84.
According to her daughter, Ruby Arcilla, Flores' conditioned worsened
since she underwent hip surgery last year. She was also suffering from
diabetes, heart disease as well as the early stages of Alzheimer’s
disease.
After Flores’ blood pressure crashed, doctors were able to revive her several times before she eventually succumbed.
She received a Best Supporting Actress trophy from the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) in 1967 for her role in the film “Kaibigan Ko’ng Sto. Nino.”
In 1989, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Film Academy of the Philippines.
