Gia Barretto warns brother Joaquin to be careful

Gia Barretto warned her brother Joaquin to be careful because he might “trip on" his "own lies” after he came out to refute her statement.

Joaquin, who was first to defend his sister Gretchen Barretto against their mom Inday, previously said Gia, in her letter released last April 26, hid the truth.

In an email she exclusively sent to entertainment website Pep.ph, Gia said: “You've started to refute yourself already. Truly a sign that you're wavering and no longer know the difference between the truth and a lie. I suggest you [learn] a lesson from Mark Twain: ‘If you tell the truth, you won't have to remember anything,’”

“If you did, then maybe your rantings will have some cohesiveness. And that this may lead to the realization that your past habit has affected your mind,” she added.

According to Gia, she only wanted her siblings and parents to be left alone when she issued her statement.

“It's amusing how a barrage of allegations [sprang from one request]. You're obviously in a panic to prove something. Everyone knows that it's always the guilty that tend to panic because they do not have the truth to back them up,” she said.

“I'm afraid that any response, even logical ones might further drive you to degrade yourself. You don't even know it, but you've become a nuisance at 51 years old. I'm just too busy to waste my time on this. Unlike you, my children depend on me to provide for them and nurture them,” she added.
Despite this, Gia said a part of her still feels sorry for Joaquin.

“Soon, you will be old news. Just another person used as a pawn in someone's sick game. Your 15 minutes of fame wasted. Your legacy to your children: To dishonor and destroy your parents. Good luck living with yourself, J. It might be difficult to believe, but I still find that a part of me feels sorry for you. Good luck living with the demons that will undoubtedly haunt you,” she said.

The latest feud to rock the Barretto family stemmed partly from comments on the image-sharing service Instagram, supposedly made by Gretchen, saying that her sister Claudine is not happy that their niece, Julia, is starting to make a name for herself in showbiz.

Julia, the second daughter of Marjorie Barretto, was recently introduced as an artist of Star Magic, the ABS-CBN talent management firm that launched Claudine to stardom until her transfer to another network in 2009.

In response to reports on the alleged exchange on Instagram, Inday had released a statement denying Claudine's supposed plans to "block" Julia's road to stardom.

In the same statement, Inday announced she has disowned Gretchen "in order to save one who has always been there for all, and with all of her love…Claudine."

Subsequent statements made by Joaquin and Gia addressed the issue. The latter sided with her mother and youngest sister, while Joaquin sided with Gretchen, saying Claudine's "condition" should be addressed.
