MANILA – Tropical depression “Maring” has maintained its strength as it continues to move in an east-southeast direction, weather bureau PAGASA announced in a weather bulletin released 11:00 pm Saturday.
PAGASA said that as of 10:00 pm Saturday, the center of “Maring” was located 410 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes.
It was bearing maximum winds of 55 kph near the center and was forecast to move east-southeast at a speed of 11 kph.
By Sunday evening, “Maring” was expected to be 640 kms east of Itbayat.
PAGASA said “Maring” will enhance the southwest monsoon that will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms over western Luzon.
Around 5-10 mm of rainfall per hour was estimated within the 300-km diameter of “Maring.”
Fishermen were advised not to venture out over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon, the western seaboard of Central Luzon, and over the seaboard of Cavite, Mindoro Occidental, and over the western coast of Batangas.
In its public weather forecast, PAGASA said the whole country will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
