MANILA – “I am not yet okay but I am getting there.”
This is what former “Star Circle Quest” finalist Neri Naig said when she finally broke her silence after a video of her and boyfriend Chito Miranda having sex went viral online early this month.
In a letter she sent to the assistant of “The Buzz” host Boy Abunda, Naig admitted she was devastated when the video first came out.
“For two weeks, nagkulong lang ako sa room ko and just wanted to disappear. I didn’t want to see or talk or hear from anyone,” she said.
The actress said it was only recently when she decided to read and watch the news about her and Miranda.
“Grabeng pagmamahal 'yung pinaramdam nila sa akin. The first one he (Miranda) showed me was from 'The Buzz' and Tito Boy’s comment made me want to hug him agad. What he did and said about us, helped me a lot,” she said.
Naig said a report of “Showbiz Inside Report,” which highlighted their happy moments as a couple, also made her feel a lot better.
“Pinakita nila kami bilang isang normal na couple na nagmamahalan… And what they said was fair and unbiased at naging malaking tulong para makawala ng pain kahit paano. Maraming salamat po,” she said.
The 27-year-old actress also took the opportunity to thank a lot of people in her letter, including Miranda’s manager and agents of the National Bureau of Investigation.
“Sa DMV management, salamat po sa pag-unawa at pag-alalay sa akin. Sa NBI po, salamat po at kahit hindi pa man kami lumalapit sa inyo, inaksyunan niyo na po agad ang kaso.
Kung puwede lang po talagang yakapin lahat ng mga tao na umalalay, nagpakita ng pagmamahal at suporta sa amin ni Chito, maraming maraming salamat po,” she said.
Last Monday, the Parokya ni Edgar frontman already brought the case to the NBI to request a probe into the circulation of the private video.
In his affidavit submitted to NBI Director Nonnatus Rojas, Miranda cited a violation of the Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.
If proven guilty of the violation, the one who leaked the video may be imprisoned for up to seven years and fined up to P500,000.
When the sex video scandal erupted early this month, Miranda said his room had been robbed. A hard drive, which contained the video among other files, were allegedly among those lost in the theft.
Last Tuesday, NBI cybercrime division head agent Ronaldo Aguto said the agency has already launched an investigation and expressed confidence that they will track down the suspect behind the video's spread.
