Kim Chiu on celeb relief efforts: We want to inspire

MANILA, Philippines - Kim Chiu defended fellow celebrities from online bashers who said showbiz personalities only engage in relief efforts during national calamities for the sake of publicity.
The Kapamilya actress was among the number of celebrities who reached out and helped victims of typhoon Maring.
During the press conference for her month-long special on ABS-CBN’s fantasy show “Wansapanataym,” Kim said she believes her stars like share their relief efforts on social media in order to inspire people to help out as well.
“Siguro, para sa aming mga artista, it’s a way of telling the people na, ‘Hey, tumulong din kayo’,” Kim told the entertainment media on Tuesday, August 27.

“So to inspire people, not to publicize yourself na, ‘Ay, tumulong ako.”
It was reported that Kim helped in the distribution of relief goods in Pateros, Taguig during the onslaught of the heavy rains last week. She also gave water and ready-to-eat food items for the typhoon victims.
“Ang sarap ng pakiramdam na makatulong ka sa mga kababayan mo kaysa humiga ka lang sa bahay mo or magpahinga ka lang, manood ka lang ng TV, kumain ka,” Kim said.
“Nakakakonsensiya rin sa feeling mo na may pera ka naman para tumulong pero hindi mo magawa.”
‘Darating din tayo d’yan’
Her month-long “Wansapanataym” special—titled “My Fairy Kasambahay,” which will also star Angel Aquino and John Lapus, among others—is her latest TV project following the successful soap opera “Ina, Kapatid, Anak.”
The show, she said, is a welcome break from her recent heavy drama project.
“Ngayon, medyo nag-light na siya, nagpapatawa. At least iba naman. Ibang acting experience yung tinatahak ko ngayon,” Kim said. “Gusto ko yung mga role na ganyan, yung magpapatawa ka ng tao saka nakakapagpainspire ka.”
Her latest movie with Xian Lim, “Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?”, was also a blockbuster hit. With her career coming up roses,
The actress recently said in a “Kris TV” interview that she and Xian are exclusively dating.
“It takes time to know one para tumagal yung relationship,” Kim said. “Kasi kung mabilisan, ganun din, mabilisan. Para ka lang nagpalit ng damit.”
She also said, “Darating din tayo d’yan. Hindi naman kailangang sapilitan. Kusa po ninyo yun malalaman kung sino man po ang nagpapatibok ng puso ko.”
“Masaya po ako ngayon sa mga nangyayari sa buhay ko and iniembrace ko lang siya. Natutuwa ako na nakikita siya ng mga tao,” Kim added.
Kim’s “Wansapanataym” special premieres Saturday, September 7 on ABS-CBN.
doesn’t Kim feel it’s about time for her to have a colorful love life as well?

In an interview with entertainment site PEP.ph, Chiu said all her hard work paid off as moviegoers lined up to see “Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo.”

“Nakakatuwa, nakakaiyak, ang saya-saya. Sabi ko ibang pelikula ito, ibibigay ko na ang lahat. Kung napansin ninyo wala na akong itinira sa self ko, parang ibinuhos ko na ang lahat. So masaya kasi nag-pay off naman siya,” she said.
In the movie, Chiu plays the role of Sandy, who, after going through a break-up, is left to ponder why she feels unwanted.

The 23-year-old actress also thanked her fellow celebrities who helped promote the movie. She particularly mentioned Sarah Geronimo, who urged her own fan base on Twiiter to watch Chiu’s movie.

“Yeah, nag-tweet siya na panoorin 'yung movie. Natutuwa din ako kasi ang dami ring artista na nagpa-plug sa mga Twitter nila, tina-tag sa akin. Ayun, nakaka-touch. Sobra akong thankful. Sinasabihan nila 'yung mga fans nila. Masaya naman, masarap sa pakiramdam," she said.

While she and Geronimo are not really close friends, Chiu said there has never been an issue between them and she is open to be more acquainted with the singer-actess

Kim Chiu says 'GA' Instagram post 'not mine'

Kim Chiu denied on Friday that a message on her Instagram page asking an unspecified addressee to "come back to me" was posted by her.

n another post on the popular image-sharing service, which is seen by her over 520,000 followers, the 23-year-old actress said that her account had been hacked.

"Good day IG friends! I just want to inform you that my account has just been recently hacked. I'll keep you posted if it happens again. I just might make a new account na," she said.

Chiu added: "Please be informed that the recent post was not mine! God bless you, hacker!"

The recent post Chiu is referring to is an image of what appears to be a red, heart-shaped puzzle with a piece labeled "you" detached.

The accompanying caption of the post, unedited, was: "'The more BOYS I met the more I realize that IT's ONLY HIM I WANT TO BE' :( PLEASE come back to ME (G.A)"

It has since been deleted from Chiu's Instagram page.

The actress' last known romantic relationship was with actor Gerald Anderson, with whom she broke up in 2010 amid controversies.

Anderson recently admitted that he is in a relationship with actress Maja Salvador, Chiu's former best friend. Salvador, on the other hand, confirmed her relationship with the actor on Thursday.

Gerald admits that Maja is now his girlfriend

After evading the media for so long about the real score of his blossoming romance with Maja Salvador, Gerald Anderson, for the first time, admitted that the “Ina Kapatid Anak” actress is already his girlfriend.

In a teaser posted by StarStudio magazine for its June 2013 issue, Anderson was quoted as saying “Yes, I’m in love with Maja Salvador” and “Yes, she’s my girlfriend.”

The actor will reportedly dish out details about his relationship with Salvador in the magazine's June issue, which will soon be available in magazine stands.

Furthermore, StarStudio, through its official Facebook account, said Anderson will discuss how he and Salvador fell in love.

It was only this month when Anderson and Salvador first appeared live on television together.
Last May 5, Anderson surprised Salvador by appearing on “ASAP” with a big bouquet of roses.

During that episode, Anderson congratulated Salvador for being in showbiz for 10 years.

“Happy anniversary sa 'yo. Deserved mo lahat ng blessings na mayroon ka, lahat ng fans mo.

Napakabait mo sa pamilya mo, sa akin, kaya deserved mo lahat iyan. I'll always be here to protect you kaya huwag ka mag-alala,” he said.

To which Salvador replied: “Thank you dumating ka sa buhay ko.”

The blossoming romance between Anderson and Salvador made headlines back in January after actress Kim Chiu expressed regret over her "wasted" friendship with Salvador.

Anderson was Chiu’s former boyfriend, while Salvador was her erstwhile best friend.

Teleserye creators address Maja-Kim 'tension'

MANILA, Philippines -- The creators of "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" have addressed the rumored escalating tiff between Maja Salvador and Kim Chiu on the set of the top-rating series.

Following reports that a fight scene between the characters of Salvador and Chiu in the series supposedly turned real, two of the the writers of "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" maintained that the physical confrontation was simply in line with the soap's plot.

"Feeling ko part 'yun ng eksena. Ewan ko, siguro as artista kailangan nila i-motivate 'yung artista. Basta ano, it’s part of the story," Danica Domingo, head writer of the series, told ABS-CBN.com.
Last Friday, a report published on an entertainment news site cited a source in detailing an incident that allegedly erupted on the set of the series Wednesday of that week.

"Ang ending [ng sampalan at sabunutan scene], pasa-pasa sila pareho at may mga kalmot si Maja. Umiyak si Kim after," the source was quoted as saying.

According to the source, Salvador asked Chiu if she was alright after filming the physical confrontation. But the "My Binondo Girl" star allegedly ran to her dressing room, crying. The source added that Chiu "walked out," forcing the set to pack up.

While a second source of the news site denied the allegation that Chiu left the set unceremoniously, it chose to keep mum on the supposed physical encounter between the two lead stars.

Parallels

David Duico, who writes the script of "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," admitted that putting together confrontational scenes between Margaux (Salvador) and Celyn (Chiu) has become increasingly difficult, in light of the reported real-life tension between the two actresses.

Speaking to ABS-CBN.com, Duico said, "Mahirap siya kasi kailangan klaro kung saan nanggagaling 'yung characters. Hindi mo dapat iniisip 'yung nangyayari outside the soap. Dapat tuwing nagaaway sila, malinaw kung bakit at kung ano ang pinanggagalingan ng bawat character."

In "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," Margaux and Celyn are caught in a bitter feud, initially over the latter falling for her best friend's partner (Enchong Dee). Later, however, their tiff escalates with the revelation that Celyn is the biological daughter of Margaux's apparent foster parents (Janice de Belen and Ariel Rivera).

The soap first aired in October, and was already billed at the time as featuring the "rivalry" of the two principal characters.

It was in early January when Chiu expressed regret over her "wasted" friendship with Salvador, following reports of a blooming "relationship" between the "Thelma" actress and actor Gerald Anderson.

Chiu and Anderson broke up in 2010 amid controversies surrounding their relationship.
While Salvador has kept mum on her ties with Anderson, the "Budoy" star has expressed intentions to court the actress "if given a chance."

'Damned if you, damned if you don't'

Referring to the "parallel" situations of Salvador and Chiu in real life with those their characters are embroiled in, Domingo said both Star Magic talents had been informed early on that their portrayals would eventually lead them to fighting onscreen.

The head writer maintained that the show is not capitalizing on the publicized "rift" between Salvador and Chiu, in order to draw more viewers to the show.

"From the start kasi alam na ni Kim at Maja 'yung role nila, alam na nila kung saan papunta, alam nila na eventually mapupunta ito sa banggaan nilang dalawa.

"How do we deal with it? We just stick to the story kasi damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Ang mangyayari, ayaw namin dumating sa point na isipin ng audience na bumabangka kami sa issue, or nagho-hold kami dahil may issue. Kasi at the end of the day this is part of our jobs, this is part of their jobs. So nag-stick lang kami sa story, eto 'yung puntahan…Pero in terms of dun sa real-life struggles ni Maja at Kim, wala na kaming ano dun," Domingo said.

According to Domingo, earlier confrontation scenes between Margaux and Celyn had already been filmed prior to the controversy. She said the seemingly parallel situations are merely a coincidence.
"Actually nung sumabog 'yung issue kay Maja, kinukunan na nila 'yung eksena ng sagutan. Ibig sabihin prior to the issue nakakasa na kami sa ganung banggaan. Hindi talaga siya kunektado in any way. For some reason, na-twilight zone kami at may semblance 'yung pinagdadaanan nila ngayon.
"Pero at the end of the day, 'yung rivalry ni Margaux and Celyn, hindi siya [nakaangkla] sa isang tao or because of a guy… Mas family-driven siya—yung right ng pagiging anak laban sa affection ng parents," she said.

Kim breaks silence on Gerald-Maja 'romance'

MANILA - Actress Kim Chiu finally broke her silence on reports that her best friend, actress Maja Salvador, is now dating her former boyfriend, actor Gerald Anderson.

In a press conference on Tuesday on book 2 of ABS-CBN's hit series "Ina Kapatid Anak," Chiu was emotional when she talked about the issue, adding she was caught by surprise by the turn of events.
"For me, I'm happy for them, wala naman pong masama, pareho silang single at maging masaya na lang tayo sa kanilang dalawa. Nakakalungkot lang kasi yung friendship ay nasayang, yeah yung friendship namin ni (Maja)," Chiu said.

"Nagulat ako, nabigla hindi ko ini-expect na mangyayari ang ganito, bakit? Hindi naman ako bitter. Kung anuman ang nangyayari sa kanila, I'm happy for them, pero parang nalungkot lang ako na yung taong sinabihan ko noong time na down ako eh parang kinain niya lang yung sinabi niya," she said.
Chiu clarified, however, that she and Salvador are not fighting.

"We are good, we are OK. I don't care, I don't care, bahala na siya. She knows Gerald, who Gerald is," she said.

Asked if it's now hard for her to work with Salvador, Chiu replied:  "We can work professionally at nagawa naman po namin yon at maganda naman po ang mga eksena namin [sa Ina, Kapatid, Anak]."
She also revealed that Salvador asked her approval to date Gerald.

"She asked permission and I said, bakit kailangan pang magpaalam eh wala na ako kay Gerald, wala na talaga. Naano lang ako na ang daming nagtatanong sa akin about Gerald, bakit? Ang tagal na, ang dami ng babaeng dumaan after ako, hindi lang ako," said Chiu, adding that she's not hurt over the relationship.

Chiu said she's getting tired of answering questions about Anderson since it's been three years since they separated.

"Nakakapagod na din po kasi yung tanong kayo ng tanong sa akin tungkol kay Gerald eh ang dami niya na pong dinaanang babae, hindi ba? Hindi lang naman ako. Bakit hindi niyo po hingin ang opinyon ng ibang babae since marami naman po sila," Chiu said.

"The press or the people keep on asking me if I'm fine. Of course, I'm doing fine, ang tagal ko nang naka--let go and ayaw ko ng magpakatanga, let's be happy for them," she said.

Chiu showed concern for her friend, and appealed to bashers to spare Salvador and Anderson.
"Sa mga bashers, tama na po, let's be happy for the both of them. Kung nagmamahalan man sila, kung anuman ang nararamdaman nila sa isa't isa, maging masaya na lang po tayo."

Gerald on Kim: She's more beautiful now

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Gerald Anderson and actress Kim Chiu did not think that after they went separate ways – both on camera and in real life -- in 2010, they would become good friends who are so comfortable with each other again.

Anderson credits their rekindled friendship to the time that they spent together while shooting their upcoming movie, the Star Magic 20th anniversary offering, "24/7 in Love."

“Ang laking tulong din po nung '24/7 in Love.' Bago kami mag-start kinakabahan, nagwo-worry kung mayroon pa rin kaming chemistry. Kung makakapagtrabaho kami ng maayos. Normal iyon pero sobrang ganda ng nangyari,” Anderson said in an interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday.

Chiu, for her part, admitted she also felt anxious before they did the movie considering that their last onscreen team-up was in the movie "Till My Heartaches End" two years ago.

“Kasi ilang taon na kaming hindi nagkakaeksena ni Gerald, hindi nagkakatrabaho. Nagkikita kami sa 'ASAP' pero sumasayaw lang kami doon, kumakanta, nagho-host, pero hindi umaarte sa harap ng kamera. Nakakakaba. Nakatulong 'yung first day kasi lahat ng first sequences namin puro pa-sweet, parang nagbalik 'yung 'Your Song' kaming dalawa. Ay parang 16 years old ulit,” she said.

Within that two-year period, both said they have changed in a positive way.

For Anderson, Chiu is now more matured in the things that she chooses to do. He also noted that the actress is more beautiful now.

“Before mas laging tumatawa kahit sobrang mababaw ang joke, lagi siyang tumatawa. Ngayon mas matured na. Marami akong nakikita na ginagawa niya na hindi niya ginagawa dati. Mas blooming siya ngayon, mas maganda. Siguro nahanap na niya kung sino siya talaga. Kasi bata pa kami noon eh, 20, 19,” he said.

Chiu, on the other hand, noticed how Anderson has become more focused in pursuing his dreams. She also noted how Anderson has become a man now compared to the time when they were still together.

“Si Gerald dati kung ano ang gusto niya, gagawin niya. Ngayon din naman pero mas alam niya na yung ginagawa niya. Dati kasi enjoy lang, happy go lucky,” she said. “Si Gerald noon bata pa po siya, ngayon po mama na siya. Mayroon na siyang mga bigote, muscles, abs.”

Chiu and Anderson are reuniting for the Star Magic 20th anniversary offering "24/7 In Love," which is set to hit theaters nationwide on November 21.
