MANILA, Philippines -- Brazilian-Japanese TV personality Daniel
Matsunaga is ready to meet the new boyfriend of his former partner Heart
Evangelista.
"I hope one day I can meet Chiz. I wish them the best. I’m here to
support them," Matsunaga was quoted as saying by entertainment website
PEP, referring to the relationship of Evangelista and Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero.
Matsunaga's statement comes a week after Escudero's confirmation of
his romance with the former Kapamilya actress, who had characterized her
relationship with the lawmaker as "meetings" until his admission on
national TV.
In early October, the senator was quizzed by his co-host Kris Aquino
on the morning talk show "KrisTV" on his romance with Evangelista. When
asked if the former Kapamilya star is his "girlfriend," the senator
said: "I'd like to think so, yes."
For her part, Evangelista said she is intent on keeping private her
new romance with the senator since being under the limelight had spelled
the end of her earlier relationships.
"Walang bad feelings, walang ganoon, e. No bad feelings talaga,"
Matsunaga said of Evangelista, who confirmed her breakup with the
sought-after commercial model in April this year.
Of her split with Matsunaga, Evangelista, in an earlier interview, said that it was a case of "cultural differences."
"He and I, we were too different. We couldn't even get to fighting about the big things anymore because we were fighting about the little things," she said at the time.
Despite these differences as lovers, Matsunaga maintained that they have not completely severed ties with each other. "We’re not really seeing each other, but we’re still friends," he said.
