MANILA, Philippines – Former "Darna" actress Marian Rivera sees nothing wrong with the possibility of Angel Locsin reprising her role as the iconic Pinay superheroine.

With ABS-CBN reportedly having earned the rights to Mars Ravelo's Darna character, Locsin has expressed interest in donning the two-piece battle gear anew.

Locsin first portrayed the fictional Filipina icon in 2005, before she became a Kapamilya.

Herself an incarnation of Darna via a 2009 TV series, Rivera said any new take on the role is simply par for the course.

"Okay lang, ganoon naman talaga eh," Rivera was quoted as saying by entertainment website PEP, when asked for her comment on Locsin's possible reprise of the Darna character.

"Nakailang ulit na rin ang Darna, ang Dyesebel, ang Captain Barbell, so ganoon talaga ang routine," she added.

Since appearing in local publications since the 1940s, Darna has been portrayed by over 15 different actresses in TV and films, among them veteran actress Vilma Santos.

Santos, like Rivera, also portrayed the fictional mermaid Dyesebel. The character has since been portrayed by about five different actresses on the big screen.

"So ganoon lang ang buhay, paulit-ulit," Rivera said.

For her part, Locsin, in an earlier interview, said she is not closing her doors to making a return as the flying superheroine.

"Natutuwa naman ako kasi nakikita ko 'yung suporta ng mga Darna fans sa akin. 'Yung mga tao na wini-wish na sana ako pa din si Darna. So tignan natin, sabi nga nila kung sino ang mapalad sa kanya ibibigay 'yung bato," she said.
