MANILA, Philippines -- After Angelica Panganiban and Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis is now in negotiations to star opposite Dingdong Dantes in a romantic-comedy film slated for a release next year.

At the sidelines of the actor's contract-signing with Viva Entertainment held Tuesday, the entertainment production company divulged to ABS-CBN News that a film by Chris Martinez starring Dantes and Curtis is currently in the works.

Martinez is the screenwriter behind the acclaimed independent film "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank," and more recently, the comedy-musical "I Do Bidoo Bidoo."

The planned tandem between Dantes, 32, and Curtis, 27, was made possible by the actor's renewed ties with Viva, which also manages the career of the "It's Showtime" host.

On Wenesday, Dantes confirmed the planned team-up to ABS-CBN News. "Wala pa namang specific title na sinabi, but I think they're working towards that direction (tandem with Curtis), so we'll see," he said.

All praises for Angel, Angelica

Currently, Dantes is promoting his latest big screen outing with Kapamilya leading ladies.
A film entry to the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival, "One More Try" tells the story of two couples whose lives are intertwined by a common hope of saving a child's life.

"Kung ano 'yung nakita niyo sa trailer, wala pa 'yun ng one-tenth ng kung anong laman ng buong pelikula," Dantes said.

"Sa trailer, it pretty much shows kung ano 'yung magiging takbo ng storya, pero when you see the whole film, sobrang daming iba pang makikita, great performances. It's a spectacular movie," he added.

In the Ruel Bayani ("No Other Woman") film, Locsin portrays Grace, a single mom who is forced to reconnect with her son's biological father Edward (Dantes) to save the boy from a worsening rare blood condition.

The source of the cure: a biological sibling to Grace's son, who must be naturally conceived.
In a situation where a child's life is at stake, Grace and Edward's respective relationships -- she has found love anew with Tristan (Marudo), while he is married to Jacqueline (Panganiban) -- take a turn for the worse, as unwanted feelings from the past start to resurface.

Referring to his two leading ladies in the Star Cinema offering, Dantes said, "Ako, I think they are two great actresses in their own right. Kanya-kanya sila ng galing, kanya-kanya sila ng edge."

"So maganda nga na sa isang pelikula ay makikita silang magkasama, and talagang with opposing roles," he added.

Weeks ahead of the film's release, both ABS-CBN stars are getting "Best Actress" buzz for their performance. Himself a Best Actor awardee at last year's MMFF for his role in Star Cinema's "Segunda Mano," is Dantes expecting another recognition this time around?

"Wala po kaming inaasahang ganoon, but siyempre I'm just hoping na maraming makapanood," he said.
Also starring Carmina Villaroel, Agot Isidro, Edward Mendez, and Gina PareƱo, "One More Try" along with Star Cinema's "Sisterakas" hit theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.
