QC home to world's best looking men: online mag

MANILA – Quezon City is home to two of the country’s top universities and some of the metro’s biggest malls.
An online travel magazine, however, noted that the city also has the world’s best looking men -- probably a nod to the city's tagline as the "City of the Stars," given that the country's two largest TV networks are based in Quezon City.

Early this month, Traveler’s Digest released the 2013 edition of its “Cities with the World’s Best Looking Men” list, which placed Quezon City at No. 7.

The online magazine singled out hunk actor Dingdong Dantes as it mentioned how the city has “head-turning beach bodies.”

Their reputed romantic side and gloriously tanned skin doesn’t hurt either. Just check out much-loved Filipino actor Dingdong Dantes,” it said of Dantes, who is listed in Wikipedia as born in Quezon City.

Dantes was included in E! Entertainment television’s 25 sexiest men in the world list in 2008, along with football superstar David Beckham and actor Gilles Marini of France.
Traveler’s Digest declared Havana, Cuba as the No. 1 city in the world with the hottest men, citing their “golden skin, dark eyes and a rich, exotic accent.”

Landing in second place is Madrid in Spain, followed by Istanbul in Turkey, Miami in the United States and San Juan in Puerto Rico.

At sixth place is Freetown in Sierra Leone, while Cannes in France ranked eighth. Seoul in South Korea made it to ninth place, while Dublin in Ireland rounded out the Top 10.

Staff members of Traveler’s Digest said they “literally scoured the globe in search of the world’s best looking men” as they compiled the 2013 list.

Dingdong Dantes’ surprise gift to Marian

Actor Dingdong Dantes treated girlfriend Marian Rivera, who celebrated her 29th birthday on Aug. 12, to a three-day vacation at the posh Amandari Resort and Spa in Bali, Indonesia.
On Monday, Marian posted these photos on her Instagram account with this message: “Very happy on my birthday.”

She thanked loved ones and fans for their support.
Marian earlier said Dingdong made all the preparations for the trip and merely texted her on what to bring.

Dingdong Dantes-Anne Curtis rom-com in the works

MANILA, Philippines -- After Angelica Panganiban and Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis is now in negotiations to star opposite Dingdong Dantes in a romantic-comedy film slated for a release next year.

At the sidelines of the actor's contract-signing with Viva Entertainment held Tuesday, the entertainment production company divulged to ABS-CBN News that a film by Chris Martinez starring Dantes and Curtis is currently in the works.

Martinez is the screenwriter behind the acclaimed independent film "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank," and more recently, the comedy-musical "I Do Bidoo Bidoo."

The planned tandem between Dantes, 32, and Curtis, 27, was made possible by the actor's renewed ties with Viva, which also manages the career of the "It's Showtime" host.

On Wenesday, Dantes confirmed the planned team-up to ABS-CBN News. "Wala pa namang specific title na sinabi, but I think they're working towards that direction (tandem with Curtis), so we'll see," he said.

All praises for Angel, Angelica

Currently, Dantes is promoting his latest big screen outing with Kapamilya leading ladies.
A film entry to the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival, "One More Try" tells the story of two couples whose lives are intertwined by a common hope of saving a child's life.

"Kung ano 'yung nakita niyo sa trailer, wala pa 'yun ng one-tenth ng kung anong laman ng buong pelikula," Dantes said.

"Sa trailer, it pretty much shows kung ano 'yung magiging takbo ng storya, pero when you see the whole film, sobrang daming iba pang makikita, great performances. It's a spectacular movie," he added.

In the Ruel Bayani ("No Other Woman") film, Locsin portrays Grace, a single mom who is forced to reconnect with her son's biological father Edward (Dantes) to save the boy from a worsening rare blood condition.

The source of the cure: a biological sibling to Grace's son, who must be naturally conceived.
In a situation where a child's life is at stake, Grace and Edward's respective relationships -- she has found love anew with Tristan (Marudo), while he is married to Jacqueline (Panganiban) -- take a turn for the worse, as unwanted feelings from the past start to resurface.

Referring to his two leading ladies in the Star Cinema offering, Dantes said, "Ako, I think they are two great actresses in their own right. Kanya-kanya sila ng galing, kanya-kanya sila ng edge."

"So maganda nga na sa isang pelikula ay makikita silang magkasama, and talagang with opposing roles," he added.

Weeks ahead of the film's release, both ABS-CBN stars are getting "Best Actress" buzz for their performance. Himself a Best Actor awardee at last year's MMFF for his role in Star Cinema's "Segunda Mano," is Dantes expecting another recognition this time around?

"Wala po kaming inaasahang ganoon, but siyempre I'm just hoping na maraming makapanood," he said.
Also starring Carmina Villaroel, Agot Isidro, Edward Mendez, and Gina Pareño, "One More Try" along with Star Cinema's "Sisterakas" hit theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.

Dingdong on Karylle's sexy figure: Good for her

MANILA, Philippines – Dingdong Dantes is maintaining a safe distance from post-show raves for the runway appearance of his former girlfriend Karylle at the recently held Bench Universe fashion show.

"Mabuti para sa kanya," Dantes was quoted as saying by entertainment website Push, when asked to comment on Karylle's participation in the show held last September 13.

An endorser of the clothing line Bench, the singer-host was seen walking the ramp wearing stylish undergarments. Karylle's sexy physique earned praises from various entertainment media outlets.
Dantes, also an endorser of the brand, was likewise among those who walked on the runway. When asked if he and Karylle saw each other personally at the event, Dantes merely said: "Nandu’n siya. Hindi, hindi kami nagkabatian."

Karylle
After three years of being a couple, Dantes and Karylle broke up in September 2008, amid rumors linking the actor to his new leading lady at the time, actress Marian Rivera.

The "It's Showtime" host is now reported to be in a relationship with singer Yael Yuzon, while Dantes and Rivera have been officially a couple for years now.

Asked for his comment on Karylle's recent successes -- apart from her talked-about Bench appearance, she is set to guest-star in yet another Singaporean TV series -- Dantes said: "Anyone in the industry, as long as magiging successful, eh masaya ako para sa kanila. Kumbaga kahit paano maliit lang ang industriyang ito."
