MANILA, Philippines -- The top-rating daytime series "Be Careful With My
Heart," along with other ABS-CBN programs, are among the finalists in
an upcoming international competition that will be held in Las Vegas.
The "kilig-serye" starring Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap is a
finalist in the "Telenovelas" category at the 2013 New York Festival's
World's Best Television & Films competition, the award-giving body announced in its official website on Thursday.
Another Kapamilya series, "Budoy," is also a finalist in the Drama
category. Starring Gerald Anderson, the primetime series aired its last
episode in March last year.
Two current affairs programs of ABS-CBN were also among the finalists
at the festival announced Thursday: "Failon Ngayon" for its episode
"Mine Tailings" and "Krusada" for its episode "Bata ng Tahanan."
"Johnny: The Juan Ponce Enrile Story," the TV special on the life of
the incumbent Senate president, is also a finalist in the
Biography/Profiles category.
The 3D animated special "Ang Simula: The Natural History of the
Philippines," meanwhile, is a finalist in the History & Society
category.
Another Kapamilya entry in the list of finalists is "A Call to Arms,"
which is included in the Sports Program Promotion category.
Six other Filipino programs are also among the finalists in the 2013 New York Festivals.
Aside from the Philippines, around 50 other countries are participating in the competition.
This year, the New York Festivals' jury for the international TV and films competition is composed of over 170 international directors, producers, writers, actors and other creative media professionals.
Among them is Engelbert Apostol of ABS-CBN.
The 56th New York Festivals International Television and Film Awards will be held on April 9 and 10 at NAB Show in Las Vegas.
