MANILA, Philippines – Actor Jake Cuenca shrugged off rumors saying actress Lovi Poe turned him down that’s why he stopped courting the actress.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Cuenca said it was their mutual decision to just focus on their careers first since they are both busy at the moment.

“It's not like we talked about it. Basta magkaibigan kami. Better that way... Sa ngayon, so many big things are happening. We are both very busy at the moment so I think it's good to not be pressured and just be friends for now,” he said.

Cuenca said he doesn’t want to get into a new relationship since he wouldn't be able to give much time into it.

“Ayaw ko ring pahirapan ang isang tao kasi alam ko naman na when I get into my next relationship, gusto kong maibigay ko ang sarili ko ng buong buo becasue that's something I have not done in my past relationships,” he explained.

Despite this, Cuenca maintained that Poe remains special to him.

“We are friends. We are good, okay naman. The friendship will be there definitely. She is special to me but first things first. Kahit rin naman ako ieencourage ko siya na unahin ang trabaho niya,” he said.

In November last year, Cuenca announced on “The Buzz” that he’s in love with Poe but it doesn’t mean that they are already in a relationship.

But even early on, Cuenca revealed that what’s hindering them to enter a relationship is their very busy schedule.
