John Lloyd touched, tears up on 'The Buzz'

MANILA – John Lloyd Cruz may already be one of this generation’s brightest stars but the actor, it turns out, sometimes doesn't think highly of himself.

During his guesting on “The Buzz” on Sunday, Cruz turned emotional after watching a recorded video of his past and present leading ladies, who only had good words to say about him.

“Ang bigat masyado [nung video]. Mare-realize mo na ganun pala iyon? Minsan kasi iba ang tingin mo sa sarili mo, tapos sa ibang tao pala, okay ka naman pala. Ang galing. It makes you appreciate yourself a lot better,” he said with tears in his eyes.

Cruz said he is deeply grateful to Bea Alonzo, Toni Gonzaga, Angel Locsin and Sarah Geronimo for making him realize that he has done something right in his life.

“Ang dami diyan na tunay na mahuhusay at tunay na dedicated at talagang magaling. Madalas nahihiya ako kapag nakakasama ko 'yung talagang mga tinitingala sa larangan ng pag-arte at sa standards mo, sila talaga 'yung magaling. But minsan kapag sinasabi ng ibang tao, magpapasalamat ka na lang. Salamat po,” he said.

Working with Sarah

Meanwhile, Cruz said he is already excited for his fans to see his latest movie with Geronimo titled “It Takes A Man and A Woman.” This is the third -- and reportedly the last -- installment of their big screen team-up.

“Iba na kasi ito eh. Iba na ang take off ng story. You have to watch it. Hindi ko rin maikwento. If you’ve seen the trailer, maiintindihan niyo. Mags-start siya na 'yung love story ni Miggy and Laida, natapos,” he said.

Recalling when they did “A Very Special Love” five years ago, Cruz said his team-up with Geronimo is just proof that some of the best things that happen in life are not actually planned.

“It was parang by accident eh. Hindi sinasadya. If I remember it correctly, hindi naman talaga iyon ang dapat na gagawin ko. I was supposed to do a movie with another leading lady tapos hindi puwede so sabi nila ito na lang, gawin natin ito,” he said.

“Kami ni Sarah since day one, since that 'MMK' episode hanggang ngayon, naniniwala ako na we will always have this very special connection. Hindi siya chemistry eh. It’s a gift that goes beyond the chemistry. Iba 'yung sa amin ni Bea, iba y'ung sa amin ni Angel, ni Toni. Iba ‘to eh,” he added.
“It Takes A Man and A Woman” is set to be released in theaters nationwide on March 30.
