MANILA - The so-called FPJ [Fernando Poe Jr.] magic worked for his
daughter, Grace Poe, but not for one of his close friends, actor Rez
Cortez.
Cortez is losing in the congressional race in Camarines Sur's fifth district.
Grace Poe is currently number one in the Senate race with around 15 million votes with nearly 70% of the count processed.
Cortez, who is an United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) candidate, had
11,782 votes as of 11:53 a.m., with 66.84% of election returns
processed, according to latest unofficial results from the Commission on
Elections transparency server.
Sal Fortuna of Liberal Party is poised to win the race with 66,777 votes.
Poe lost but to President Gloria Arroyo but many believe Poe was cheated.
Cortez was Poe's sidekick in many of their movies. After Poe's death in December 2004, he actively campaigned against the Arroyo government.
