Gretchen Barretto has denied the rumor that there’s something romantic going on between her and Art Acuña, one of her co-stars in the Cinemalaya entry “The Diplomat Hotel”.

“That’s impossible. I’m very happy with my relationship with Tonyboy [Cojuangco],” the actress said of her longtime companion, the renowned business leader and patron of the annual Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.

Gretchen added, sounding a little irked, “Oh please, I’m too old for that… crap.” With that, she ended the impromptu interview during an event on Thursday and left before News5 could ask any further questions.

The rumor started last month after Gretchen posted a very personal message from Art on her Instagram account. This was supposedly bolstered by reports that Gretchen had lobbied with “The Diplomat Hotel” director Christopjher Ad. Castillo to include the award-winning actor in the cast.

Gretchen and Art had worked together for almost a year on the set of the ABS-CBN soap opera “Princess & I”.

Before denying the alleged romance with Art, Gretchen gamely told the media that she had moved on from the bitter family feud that pitted her against her sisters Claudine and Gia and her own parents, especially her mother Inday.

She said she was keeping herself busy hanging out with people who love her, including her sister Marjorie, Marjorie’s children, and close friends like BB Gandanghari.

“Masaya kami. Puro workout kami,” the avid Zumba practitioner said with a laugh.
