MANILA, Philippines - Actor Marvin Agustin's restaurant company is the top restaurant taxpayer in Mandaluyong, while popular Chinese eatery Gloria Maris is the top restaurant taxpayer in San Juan.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Wednesday released its latest Tax Watch ad "Is Your Favorite Restaurant a Top Taxpayer in Mandaluyong and San Juan?"
The 2011 Top Restaurant Taxpayers in Mandaluyong was topped by Sumosam, Cafe Ten Titas and Smairu, which is owned by Agustin. His company paid P2.08 million in income tax in 2011.
In second place was Leviticus Food Hub (P1.74 million). Ranked third was I-Foods Inc. owner Bryan Tiu's chain of restaurants Tokyo Cafe, Peri-Peri Grill House, Stackers, Kogi Bulgogi and Parmigiano Pizzeria, with P1.68 million in taxes.
Fourth was the popular chain Dads, Kamayan, Saisaki and Sambokojin, owned by Triple V, which paid P848,823 in taxes.
Fifth was Joey Concepcion's Joey Pepperoni Pizzeria, Snowstorm Ice Cream Parlor, Kettle Korn and Fluffy Candee Factory, which paid P719,489 in taxes.
Meanwhile, the 2011 Top Restaurant Taxpayers in San Juan was topped by Gloria Maris, which paid P3.73 million in taxes.
In second and third place were KFC franchisees, City Chix (P1.43 million) and Sunny Smile Food Corp. (P1.04 million).
Fourth was Tender Bob's Steak with P953,747 in taxes, and fifth was yogurt chain Red Mango with P854,579 in taxes.
