Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworksi elected as IOC member

MANILA, Philippines—Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworksi was officially elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee late Tuesday (Manila time).
 
The fomer Asian Games gold medalist, who is the daughter of Philippine Olympic Committee head Jose “Peping” Cojuangco, joined eight others who were inducted in the 25th IOC session in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The 39-year-old Cojuangco-Jaworksi became the third IOC representative to the Philippines, joining the ranks of Frank Elizalde and the late Jorge Vargas.
She is set to replace Elizalde, who will step down late this year.
 
The Olympic body later on elected the 59-year-old German Thomas Bach to replace Jacques Rogge for president.
IOC has 112 regular members.
