MANILA - If there's a chance Kris Aquino and Herbert Bautista will stay friends after their short-lived romance, the actress-host said she would have to stop talking about their relationship.
While she initially declined to answer questions about Bautista during the live episode of "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" on Wednesday, Aquino later revealed that the former actor recently sent her fruits -- a gesture she appreciated.
Earlier in the day, Aquino also shared on Instagram that Bautista sent her a pack of energy drinks after she got hospitalized due to falling ill from heat on Tuesday.
"We're friends, and I want to stay friends," Aquino said on Wednesday night. "If I say anything now, we might not be friends. And he's actually watching right now so I better shut up!"
As she went on to details her recent conversation with Bautista, Aquino stopped in her tracks and laughed as she realized she was still talking about her former flame.
"Kung anu-ano pinagsasabi ko na naman!" she said.
Addressing Bautista, she added, "Sorry, matulog ka na! Huwag mo na ako pansinin... No, I appreciated the fruits!"
Aquino and Bautista stopped dating before the Holy Week break, a source close to the city official told ABS-CBN News on Wednesday.
The "split" came only a week after Aquino confirmed on live television that they were indeed dating, as rumored in the previous month.
Bautista's decision to stop pursuing Aquino, the source added, was due to his concern for his children who were reportedly hurt by news of the blooming romance.
The city mayor has two kids with long-time partner Tates Gana -- 17-year-old Athena and 10-year-old Harvey, both showbiz newcomers. Bautista has two other children from a previous relationship.
