BORACAY – Actor John Lloyd Cruz revealed a leaner physique at an event here Saturday night after undergoing a six-week fitness challenge resulting in a weight loss of 18 pounds.
During the 2014 Century Tuna Superbods event in Boracay, Cruz took to the runway to show off his “sexier” body.
From 170 pounds, Cruz now weighs 152 pounds.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Cruz said he considers this fitness challenge a life-changing experience as it helped him transform into a better version of himself.
“Sinabi ko nung I turned 30 last year, sinabi ko na isa 'yun sa goals ko – na maging mas fit, maging healthier and magkaroon ng balanced lifestyle talaga. Mahirap 'yung puro ka lang trabaho because we are not getting any younger so dapat talaga balanced,” he said.
Cruz, however, admitted that it did not come easy for him since he got into an accident during the weight-loss program.
“Yung accident medyo nakaapekto. Bahay lang ako for two weeks nun, almost three weeks. Malaking chunk 'yung natanggal sa time namin. But with the help of my trainer and 'yung superbods diet, 'yun talaga 'yung nakatulong,” he said.
Last February, Cruz got into an accident while shooting for the ABS-CBN Summer Station ID when he fell off a bike face front.
Now with an improved body built, Cruz said he is planning to continue having a healthy lifestyle.
Asked if he’s going to work on his abs next, the “Home Sweetie Home” star said, “Gusto ko 'yung magiging effect niya sa katawan ko, 'yung transformation ng katawan should be just parang secondary result lang. Ang talagang intention is to get into a healthier lifestyle. 'Yung katawan bonus na lang 'yun sa process.”
“Wala talagang timeframe. I’m thinking long term. Hindi ko ginawang sobrang intense ['yung program] kasi imposibleng ma-achieve 'yung six-pack abs in six weeks. I’m thinking long term. Part na siya ng lifestyle mo, ng buhay mo,” he added.
Proud of what he has achieved, Cruz said he is hoping to be an inspiration to others who also aspire to be healthier.
“Kung kaya ko, I’m sure kayang kaya nila. Hindi ko nga nasabi kanina but ako with the kind of job that I have, with the kind of schedule that I have, mahirap na. Yung ibang tao mas regular yung schedule nila, I’m sure kayang kaya nila,” he said.
Ending the interview on a high note, the prized Kapamilya actor said, “I really feel great, I feel healthier. I feel so much better!”
