Why Marjorie initially denied sexy photos

Former actress Marjorie Barretto explained why she initially denied that she was the woman in the sexy photos, which, just a day later, were confirmed to be indeed her.

In an interview with entertainment website Pep.ph’s Jo-An Maglipon on Tuesday, Barretto said she was caught off guard when she first learned about the photos that are making the rounds online.

“When you called me that first time, I swear, I was stunned. I didn’t know what you were talking about. I didn’t even know that there was anything circulating anywhere about me. I had just woken up, and I was really caught unaware. You were talking about photos of me. It was such a nightmare. I didn’t know how to take it in,” she said.

Barretto said she asked Maglipon to describe the photos during their initial conversation but did not immediately think the woman in the photos was her.

“You know me well. If I cannot tell the truth, I won’t lie. If I won’t answer, it must be because I can’t give an honest answer. In other words, if I cannot tell the truth, I would rather not talk. I didn’t want to give you a statement at first because I really didn’t know what this was about,” she said.

Barretto said it was only when she met with her lawyers on Monday when she finally saw the scandalous pictures.

“When I finally got to my lawyer’s office, oh my God, ang dami na palang mga lumabas. My photos. [Last] Thursday pa pala… Nobody even told me, that is my disappointment,” she said.
Now that everything has been clarified, Barretto said this will be the last time that she will talk about the matter.

With the help of her lawyers, Baretto said she will go after the people who will not take down her photos.

“Now my lawyers have spoken, and they’re serious about taking to court anyone who will continue to do this. And now I’ve admitted it, then it must be because I don’t want to push myself in a position where I have to lie. I don’t want to talk about it anymore after this,” she said.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Atty. Lorna Kapunan said Barretto is “very upset” about the photos.

“She’s a mother, she’s very upset. She’s not running for any public office precisely because she wants to guard her privacy. She has growing up daughters and ang concern niya is they are in the formative years where they understand. That’s why we are also respecting the media na sana huwag na interviewhin si Marj,” she said.

Kapunan said this matter “should remain within the family and what pictures she may have should remain private.”

Thus Kapunan is appealing to the public to stop uploading or reposting the photos so they will not be forced to file legal charges.

Kapunan said they have already identified all the people who posted the photos and they will definitely take legal actions against them if they don’t put it down.
