Megan Young tops 'People of the Year' list

Miss World Megan Young, the first Filipino to ever win the title, was named one of People Asia magazine's "People of the Year" in its 14th anniversary issue.

The 23-year-old actress appears on the cover of publication's December 2013 issue, which was unveiled recently on its Facebook page. "Beauty and purpose reign in People Asia's 14th year," the accompanying description read.

Young was crowned Miss World in Bali in September, marking the first time the Philippines won the title since it debuted in the pageant in 1966.

Based in London for the duration of her one-year reign, Young has been taking active part in Miss World's charity works, including an international campaign to raise funds for the victims of typhoon "Yolanda" in central Philippines.

Aside from Young, Filipino personalities in People Asia's year-end list include Nora Aunor, Edgar

Chua, Helen Yuchengco Dee, Fr. Gerard Deveza, Dr. Steve Mark Gan, Kuh Ledesma, Criselda Lontok, Brillante Mendoza, Tom Meyer, Gov. Jonvic Remulla, Chot Reyes, and Cory Vidanes.
