MANILA, Philippines – Comedienne-singer Kakai Bautista once again denied that she is in a relationship with Thai superstar Mario Maurer.

Rumors of Bautista's supposed romance with the Thai actor surfaced after the singer posted a series of photos on image-sharing site Instagram showing her with Maurer, his friends and family members.
The photos were taken during Bautista's trip to Thailand two weeks ago, less than a month after Maurer and his long-time girlfriend confirmed that they had broken up.

In a phone interview with ABS-CBN News' Mario Dumaual on Wednesday, Bautista said Maurer’s fans should remain calm since she and Maurer are just good friends.

“Naku hindi po. Uulit-ulitin ko, magkaibigan lang po kami. Magkaibigan lang po talaga kami ni Mario Maurer... Kumalma silang lahat, may pag-asa pa kayong lahat. Huwag kayong magalit sa akin.
Kasi hindi ko rin naman kasalanan kung bakit kami naging magkaibigan. Siguro nag-click lang talaga kami kasi mabait siya. Kapag may pagkakataon na maging kaibigan mo siya, mabait talaga siya, aalagaan ka talaga niya,” she said.

Bautista also denied that it was Maurer who told her to fly to Thailand to pay him a visit.

“Actually pumunta po ako ng Bangkok with my friends. It was a personal trip. We do it every year ng mga friends ko, we go to places like Singapore, Hong Kong or whatever country in Asia. We decided to go to Thailand because we want to shop. It just happened na I have Thai friends like Mario, 'yung manager niya, 'yung brother niya so kinita ko na sila doon,” she explained.

Bautista said she was touched that Maurer invited her to dinner despite his busy schedule.

“Actually nga pagkapunta namin doon, alam ko naman kasi sobrang busy niya eh kasi he’s doing a movie in Thailand now. Other than that, mayroon pa siyang shoot abroad, pictorials, so hindi ko na in-expect na I’ll see him, pero ayun, nagkita pa rin kami,” she said.

Bautista said she posted their photos in the social networking site Instagram to show that she appreciated Maurer’s gesture.

“I thanked them na despite their busy schedule, he found time for a friend. Special din naman si Mario sa akin eh. But nothing romantic,” she said.

Bautista also called on Maurer’s fans not to get mad at her because she is just like a big sister to the actor.

“If it’s destined to happen, it will happen. Right now, I’m happy with our friendship. Parang I’m like a big sister to him kasi. Sobrang bait niya lang talaga. Wala akong masabing hindi maganda about him,” she said.

Bautista said she is just happy to be friends with Maurer, whom she considers a “very good boy.”

“Sino ba naman ang hindi mai-in love sa isang Mario Maurer, mabait at gwapo at lahat lahat na? Pero kumalma po kayo, magkaibigan lang po kami. Huwag po nating lagyan ng kulay at baka kung ano pa ang mangyari sa friendship namin na iniingatan naming dalawa. Huwag niyo na akong awayin. Let’s all be happy,” she said.
